TCU-SMU football game will not take place Sept. 11

The season opener for TCU against SMU on September 11 has been postponed. This is due to positive COVID-19 test results within the TCU program.

The positive results are from athletes and members of the support staff. Both SMU and TCU will look at open dates during the season to make up the game.

“In the course of following CDC guidelines and our aggressive testing and contact tracing strategy, we discovered that some student-athletes and support staff in our football program have tested positive for COVID-19," the statement read. "Those individuals were notified immediately and are currently abiding by CDC protocols."

This game was set to be TCU’s only non-conference game of the season and would have been the 100th time both teams have met up.
